Again 4c+4HT, but AMD Ryzen exposed many more primary cores and the XEON workstation chips (what I have) have had fast 3.0 Ghz+ multi thread support for longer than I can remember. I7 chips have had 8 cores for many of years now. You likely meant that, but I wanted to inqure. So, it sounds like if this game is not supporting these features then it is a design/engine inefficiently and not a PC/OS issue. I noticed that Edge (browser) even uses my Nvidia GPU for CUDA offloading. If the game supports 64bit and true multithreaded support then why wouldn't it handle all 40 of my cores? (2 physical 10c chips with 20 threads per chip = 40 exposed cores).įor the second part, I think you mentioned threads supporting GPU's and not CPUs and CUDA core utilization is built into Windows10 now - I believe. With AMD's and Intels current lineup, 4+ Cores is the now. Until we get to the point where PC can effecively use more than 4 Cores (even utilise Threads on CPU's) I doubt we will see VR any time soon. Its all dependant on how big your park is, how many guests there are and how many Scenery pieces+SFX are added to the ride that will affect the FPS. I've got a Haswell i7 4790k+GTX980ti and if I've put a decent effort into the Coaster or ride scenery then I'm looking at 30 - 40 FPS even in ride cam, but if I#m in a sort of lax scenery area then I'll get the numbers you have stated above. Its all going to be dependant on how many scenery pieces are in the immediate area around the Coaster or ride that you are on. I would say it's easily doable in Planet Coaster, AND Frontier already has experience doing VR. I could tone down my graphics settings for it. Could be my CPU helping the game along? But my CPU is also 3-4 years old now (Broadwell i7 on the LGA 1150). I only run a 1060 and get stable framerates in the game around 100-120FPS on nearly max settings. I'm not against it, it would simply be too hardware intensive right now. Which would be way less enjoyable and ruin the fun of VR. unless you want to ride on coasters with barely any scenery in a somewhat empty park. Doesn't VR require a stable framerate of 90 to not get motion sickness? with the current hardware configurations available, it's impossible to reach such a high framerate in planet coaster.
